Learn more about the background and journey towards Rosemary Park

The City of Sarasota is creating a new type of city park in the Rosemary District.

Our mission at Friends of Rosemary Park is to be a servant leader to the City of Sarasota in their process of establishing a new public park in the Rosemary District.

We seek to inform, engage and illuminate the people, process and plan for the park as it comes to fruition.

The park will be an incredible space that meets the diverse needs of the neighborhood it serves while creating a safe, open and inclusive environment for visitors to enjoy.

The development of this city park has been a community-wide initiative since the beginning.

It began with a group of individuals from the Rosemary community who shared the vision to build a park in the Rosemary District.

What is a pocket park?

A small, but mighty park.

A pocket park is a small outdoor space, often no more than a quarter of an acre, that’s generally located in urban areas surrounded by commercial buildings or small residential lots.

Although they are small, their purpose is beneficial as they offer a safe and inclusive environment for members of the surrounding community.
