Local Students Paint Mural Celebrating Future Rosemary District Park

20 middle school students, grades 5-8, at the Sarasota School of Arts & Sciences (SSA+S) Summer Art Camp have banded alongside the Rosemary Art & Design District and DreamLarge to commemorate the future site of Rosemary Park through the painting of a temporary, park-themed mural.

Led by art teacher, Brian Hubbard, and assisted by his wife and coworker, Sarah Hubbard, SSA+S students have been learning about art, design, creativity and are ending their camp experience with the painting of this community mural.

A park at Central Avenue and Boulevard of the Arts has been envisioned in city-wide plans for over 20 years. In 2021, the community, led by the Rosemary District Association, rallied together and donated the last of the funding needed to help the City secure park land — effectively making the community’s dream of a park a reality.
